Aamm, if you bounce your flash off the ceiling it will work for a nice baby picy or if you can find some brightish diffused light it would look good too. The bounce flash will highlight the eyes more maybe. But a picy like this in natural light always seems to convey a nicer tender moment with a feel that seems missing in flash or studio picys.

Thank you for the wonderful comments. I did not use a flash in this portrait and I never do whenever there are newborn eyes involved. This gal is three weeks old. She has a brush with death in the delivery room - the fetal heart rate had stopped since the cord was around her throat. Emergency C-section followed and now everyone is fine. The lighting is from a window amd the room behind was dark.
