Trying out my new camera downtown Dallas. This is at the Meyerson Symphony Center.

Thanks all. I noticed this guys eyes and a stripe going across the picture from a ways away ... everything lower was blocked by a wall. I convinced my shooting partner to walk towards it even though she couldn't see over the wall. When we got here there were all kinds of things to shoot and I almost forgot why we walked over. I looked up and almost panicked because his eyes were almost hidden. I was more delighted to see the little triangle reflections in PP.

Clever shot - well spotted & well composed

I really like all the lines and angles in this image, especially that "V" running across the entire thing. Well seen and captured!

Thanks for the info on the camera and crop factor John. I'm thinking this camera might be a good fit for a friend who wants to be creative more than a point and shoot will allow (thinking low light and shallow DOF here) but isn't too keen on carrying around a full sized SLR. So maybe your model or the similar one that is minus the grip. Did you get a zoom lens with it too and if so how are you liking it?

Hi John. I like it, i like it :-). The intersection of the V Shadows does it. well done.

The Crop Factor of a APC size sensor is 1.5 whereas the crop factor for the FourThirds sensor is 2.0. I think my G9 was about 7. So yes Brent, it is doubling. The 20mm lens is considered neutral for this format (ie 40mm equiv). It does look like a pancake because it is shorter than it is wide. The lens just barely goes past my grip and doesn't weigh anything it feels like. Still can't put it in a pants pocket but a jacket pocket yes.

Very nicely seen and done John, that angled shadow looks great. Must be fun playing with the new camera :-) I'm curious about how the crop factor works on the GH1. Seems I read an article where they talked about the 20mm pancake lens for it acts like a 40mm on a 35mm sensor- so does it double the length of any lens you put on it?

Like the patterns of the blinds and the shadows

Perfect use of that side lighting making neat little angles to add interest to the image. -Doug

Good details and light , comfortable colors, and the lines, planes and "counter lines" work nicely together.

Thanks guys. It is nice to be retired and recruit a buddy to go shoot with you on such a nice day. Here is the entire shoot downtown Dallas. [link]

Great shot John. The shadows create an appealingly strong diagonal pattern overlaying the grid-like details of the buildings.

Great abstract to kick start the challenge John. The lighting doesnt need to be on plane (90/270), angled light is perfectly fine and your entry is definitely on topic. I think its the V that attracted your eyes and well seen.

I haven't a clue wot you're talking about John but I think you can get away wiv this a. The picy looks really good with good detail in the shadows & highlights. I think you will really this camera as it seems a real goodun mate.

How side is side lighting? 90/270 degrees or can it be 45-135? I took this interesting shot after viewing "V", I think ... don't know what attracted me except the eyes.
