Wow, what a dramatic sky. Great to see the boat and all the bridges in the background.

This was taken while riding the Staten Island Ferry from lower manhattan. It's free - takes about an hour or so round trip, not including the wait to get on. Thanks for the comments.

Penny, you have beautifully captured this magnificent lighting in the sky, then the boat just merging from the dark, ending with the glow on the water.

Great looking sky with all those beautiful clouds and your PP really enhanced the mood of the shot.

Even the smoke from the engine flows and tapers with the light. Looks like a wonderful time. -Doug

Ah, you were on a boat when you shot this. Beautiful sky Penny but seems a tad underexposed or maybe the sun was just a bit too far gone (a levels adjustment might help). This doesn't seem a lot like a side light image though there is more light on one side of that ship and I wonder if a crop leaving just the lower right 2/3 would emphasize that better?

I was just a little late in trying to capture a sun dog.
Anyway, one doesn't really have a choice of direction to shoot from this boat.

I thought this would have been taken in some exotic place, but New York? Amazing capture with an incredible sky. I do find the sunlight on the water a bit distracting, but overall I love it!

Maginificent - I am not into paintings but I think there was a Turner

Very nice picture Penny, the dark corner does setup the mood. Wish the sun is not in the frame, gives one the sense of shooting into the light.

Wow, very spectacular indeed. I wish I had been there and taken that picy :-)
The boat and the left side of the picy might be a bit too dark though. Is this natural or the result of PP?

Wot a stunning looking picy, I love the darker corner as it gives this a real kick. The only slightly disturbing thing is the light coming straight towards us doesn't quite gel with the darker left for side lighting. Who cares anyhow this looks so good.
