Same photo but fixed the purple hue on the stone.

Thanks all for the comments. This may not be the winner, but surely wins in terms of the fun we had :-)

Interesting sculpture, I like how you captured the yellow leaves in the middle of the bottom loop, though I do prefer the blue sky original.

Looks like purple rain was about to come down ;-) Nice surreal looking image Ivan.
 (14/11/2009 @ 12:08:02 EST)
..it's growing on me. And anyway, a little experimenting is good for the soul, I think.
 (14/11/2009 @ 11:51:14 EST)
Yes, photogenix (is that a character from Asterix?) is right. The intent is to give it an otherwordly look. The same photo with a blue sky is just boring. Now I admit this is polarizing, but hey, not everyone has to like it.
 (14/11/2009 @ 11:41:37 EST)
The purple sky gives it an otherworldly look.
 (14/11/2009 @ 10:57:07 EST)
Well, I like the stone and the side lighting, even the trees in the background, but I have to admit even though purple is my favorite color, I'm not a fan of it in the sky here (or anywhere ;-)). I would say, though, a very creative effort!

But my comments are here forever:-)
 (14/11/2009 @ 00:44:32 EST)
go to "my photos" and you can upload a new one over this. The comments will stay in place that way.

You're welcome. I have a new version of the image in which I have eliminated the purple from the grey stone so the grey looks more accurate. Does anyone know if I can replace the pic and still keep the comments? Or do I have to withdraw this pic thus losing all comments, and post the new one?

Quite the inspiration indeed Ivan. You deserve a vote or two thrown your way for the fun factor alone. -Doug

Gosh, I didn't know purple would be such an inspiration to all of you!! Expect to see more purple pics from me in the future. I want to keep the creative juice flowing :-)

Hopefully Ivan doesn't mind us having a bit of fun:-)

Sorry Ivan.

You forgot something on your take Dougy.......don't worry I fixed it.
 (13/11/2009 @ 00:52:50 EST)
I will admit that purple fits the theme and that this image is starting to grow on me. I also added my take to your drop box and I also can't figure out how to delete it. If anyone can please do. -Doug
 (12/11/2009 @ 21:52:31 EST)
Okay so I tried it too, but it doesn't look the way it did on my monitor and there doesn't appear to be a way to delete it. Sorry. I thought I was adding a little more contrast than even Rod did.
Anyway, I would have to agree that I like the natural look better than the purple - but I love the subject with the background.

Of course this purple wotsit will compare favourably against your bland looking non PP drop box picy but wiv a bit of basic PPing the drop shot picy looks better than this toxic monstrosity a,a,a:-)

Agree about the idea of removing purple tonality in the grey stone. I want to see the result :-). Daniel
 (12/11/2009 @ 16:29:59 EST)
Ha, you see, I told you the purple fits the subject so much better. I'll see what I can do to remove the purple tinge from the gey stone. That should not be too much work :-)
 (12/11/2009 @ 11:00:37 EST)
I like the grays in the drop box and think I like the purple sky better, especially if you can keep the gray stone from taking on the purple tinge. :-)
 (12/11/2009 @ 10:56:16 EST)
Thanks all for the comments. I had changed the color of the sky to purple to coincide with the infinity sign and make the whole thing look a bit mystical and otherworldly. Now weather you like it or not is a matter of taste. I added another version with a deep blue sky in the drop box. Let me know if you like that one better.
And for Rodbam mate: I did not travel from Seattle to Tchernobyl just to take that picy :-). This is a sculpture in a park in Bellevue, just a few miles east from Seattle.

I had a laugh at your clever title. The side lighting here is terrific but like the others, the purple sky is a bit strange. -Doug

You sure you aren't just romanticizing the number 8. What is this place ... I would like to look it up on the web? I like everything except the purple sky ... I am pretty sure it would darken my suntan. :-)
