Originally reshot this for the current doors challenge at dpr but figured it didn't really fit the description, so here it is ;)

This has a sense of mystery like it was shot while laying on the floor then the duo treatment pushes it further into the mystery by posing the question as to why you were on the floor. Like waking from a comma or something. Well done in finding a good use for duotone. -Doug

Great perspective, Martin, although it does make me a bit dizzy to look at! Interesting toning, and even more interesting that you have jeans this color!

Fresh and good composition. Lol to your jeans story.. I was together with a russian once who used to wear a pair of red and white striped slacks when we went to nightclubs. Probably a fine place to check out the effect it might have on the girls. If it fails miserably, at least you can get drunk fast and forget about it all :)

The fact that the door is slightly ajar adds one more dimension to the strange shot. Since I have a swivel back on my camera I am going to have to start looking up too ... I will be sure to remember to look for my own shadow so that I won't scare myself Martin ;-)

Well taken, love the angle and the colouring..gives it one of those, need some 'tender loving care' look.

Thanks for commenting guys/gals! Ok, JP, color me busted. Actually I do have a pair of Italian jeans that are kinda this color, maybe a bit darker. But I haven't worked up the nerve yet to wear them ;). I might try for an alternate version to get more bluish/gray toning, maybe for a slightly spooky effect. Speaking of which, Carole, the R1 makes it easy to shoot from ground-level straight up, so no laying down was needed here ;) but this reminds me a few weeks ago when I was taking shots of the same scene (this is an abandoned house across the street from me, soon to be demolished)... I had the camera at the widest FL, pointing up and with the LCD swiveled around so I could look "down" at the composition, when I got spooked at seeing a dark shadow appear from the bottom edge of the LCD, as if something was behind me. I got out of there quick, only to realize then that the shadow was my own head partly blocking the upward view.

Ohhhh, I like this Martin! Perfect framing of that hanging fixture and the perspective is great. Did you have to lay on the floor for this one? ;-)

Hmmm, is this place for rent? ;-)

Very cool arrangement! Why a doors-challenge, should be all about light!

I figure duotones would be right up your alley Martin and this fine image is a great example of that :-) I love the lamp in that window too and the tones seem to bring out the gritty texture here. Very well done and good to have our "site mechanic" in the gallery this round!

I love both the angle and the toning here, Martin! Excellent image! I particulary like how you've positioned the hanging light in that glass panel of the door. Very nice touch on the composition.

But - maybe not. This is a stand out, in any case.

I love the textures and tilt. If this were my photo, I'd play with crops a bit, maybe put the whole in the ceiling in the top left corner (and maybe not the hole thing) - I don't know. I like it.
