There is a transit tunnel buried far under downtown Seattle that surprisingly few people know about. This is the Pioneer Square Station, there are five downtown stations in all.

Ripper of a shot indeed Brent. Again you have done Seattle well.

Amazing viewpoint, and lovely use of lines in the image.

Very impressive Brent. Is this the new station in King Street (have not been there yet)? Ivan.

Wow, sort of space-age looking, and in Seattle? I sure never knew about this! Light, repeating elements and the way it draws your eye down the line are all outstanding. Nice work!

Terrific shot. Great structure and converging lines.

It's funny how Seattle, the city, doesn't appear to be so modern on the outside but inside - wow - this is so futuristic, space aged looking. Really nice symmetry and good job with the colors.

Thanks Aam and Rod :-) Yeah, security is always a problem when trying to shoot in these kinds of places. I planned ahead and stepped out of the train with a gorillapod already attached to my camera and hanging mostly covered at my side. I then went upstairs and pretended to read a map on the wall while looking around for security people. I spotted two a ways off so quickly plopped my camera down on a ledge and used live view to quickly compose. Once in place my camera wasn't very noticeable to the guards and I started clicking away via wireless transmitter. Having to be sneaky made the shooting extra fun ;-)

Impressive control Brent. Well done.

The symmetry works on many different levels here & the train is the only thing that hasn't been mirrored. Great shot Brent.

What amazes me, besides the excellent photo, is that you shot it at f13 with 1.6th of a second, which means you must've used a tripod. Are you allowed to do that there, let alone allowed to take a photo in the first place. I'm saying this because just yesterday I heard that some people were stopped from taking photos in an old market here, they told them to take permission first. What the L! This is too much!

Sorry for the rant, mate :) Great looking photo too.

Thanks guys :-) JP, next time you are in town know that this tunnel is a great way to get north and south in the downtown area. Travel through the tunnel is free same as on the buses up on the surface streets and these days you never have to wait more than a few minutes to hop aboard the next transport that comes along. It's a great way to stay out of the rain many days out of the year- unfortunately!

this is really good

It is great that you could get level with this horizontal sight line ... putting it on the 1/3 along with the centered top sight lines makes for a very strong image.

This is so strong in fact that I think you could boost the colors even more on the bottom without hurting a thing (the green diamonds on the sidewalk, yellow walk line only to boost the lines on the bottom) and make this into a visual feast. Very nice touch on the vents at the top ... these underground architects really know what they are doing ... was most impressed with the Metro in DC. Now I'm going have to check out the Dallas one to see if it is as drab as I remember ... it has only one real underground station.
