The community name really is Dildo, and the community leaders insist the derivation of the name (which has existed for many decades) has nothing to do with an artificial penis. Hmmm... right!!

What a lovely tranquil picture - just the lapping of the water & the occasional call of a gull.

Hmmm.. the "link within the link" doesn't seem to work. Here's the URL to my picture on PBase with the geotag link

Thanks for the comments, everyone.
Martin, the only industry that this town has known for many decades was the processing of whale products, and, of course, that's been over for quite a few years now. Officially, the town council say the name was derived from a Spanish sailor and had nothing to do with sex toys. See the Legion Magazine discussion about 1/3 down this page here: [link].
However, everyone seems to have missed the obvious that a very large pond to the south of the town, named Dildo Pond, has a distinct penile shape. If you click on "view map" for this image, and cursor down a bit with "Satellite" activated to get the picture (not the map), you will see what I mean. [link] That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Wonderful work here, Jerry, from composition to the final touch in post! Curious... is there a factory nearby that produces goods in relation to the name of this community? ;)

I agree, a very "vintage" feeling to this, Jerry, that's quite pleasing. Nice toning as well.

What an interesting place Newfoundland is. The legs under the building are an interesting feature of this. If I hadn't read your explanation of the title I would have been looking closely at the sensual shapes of the boats. :)

I like how the background just fades away leaving the boats a prominent subject for the right half of the picture.
