This is a "Best of" exhibition-only gallery, meaning that no voting and no final rankings will take place...
Pick up to two photos you've taken during 2009 which you feel are your very best work this year. The photos can be of any subject, taken with any make/model camera. Process the photos to what is in your view their "finished" state (or leave them as-is if you're not into post-processing), then simply upload them to this gallery.
Once again, the intent here is to create a gallery of people's favorites/bests... the only challenge is for you to determine which two photos represent your best of 2009!
Have fun!

This was a hard one. It was almost too late in the day to get a good reflection so the saturation is there for a reason. Anyway, I'm happy for the result. Sometime I need to go back here and do it again. Thanks again for all the comments.

Rod, what's that you said a while back about the student and teacher? I'm used to it by now. Besides she works harder than I do and I enjoy the results.

Any chance to correct the heavy distortion? hehe, just kidding. ;-) Superb shot!

Wow, Penny, I love it! I think the saturated colors only enhance it. When I first saw the thumb, I thought it was one of those modernistic European buildings built at odd angles ;-). Really well seen and captured!

Excellent work, Penny! Love your "warped architecture" photos, I think you have a great eye for seeing these and framing them just right!

Luckily you kept it in colour Penny!!!. A very original shot indeed :-)

I will add a second opinion here as I favor color very heavily over B&W. These challenges have show me that patterns, shapes, expressions, and even dynamic range may be better in B&W. The good photographers here have shown me this. Now I am occasionally doing a B&W for myself and find it is easier to control and say what I mean. I have even shot some whose sole purpose was B&W [link] [link] [link] . So I am learning the power that B&W still delivers over color.
For Penny's wonderful shot here, there are two pictures but they both work especially well together ... the color adds meaning here instead of taking it away ... especially the green part at the bottom reminding you that it is a building behind you and to turn around if you can.

Hope I'm not becoming a color tyrant :) Seriously, colors here are one of the main attraction in this photo, imo.

Wonderful, Penny. More & more am I becoming a lover of reflections and the dimension it adds to a pic.

thanks for the comments. Aam, believe it or not, one of the reasons I didn't go for the b/w is you. I like the colors too but in photoshop the colors looked a little too saturated (and I wouldn't want to have that problem again). Here on the site, though, it looks okay. (It took me three tries in case anybody noticed). Rod - now that we have the personal profile pages you can look and see who won and who didn't and stop worrying about Tommy.

This does look magnificent in colour & wot a picy a. You & Tommy have shown some great work in this best of & I'm glad we don't have to vote because I hate to see Tommy cry when he comes in behind you:-) This picy is super duper megirl.

Why would you discard those lovely colors for B&W. To each their own I guess.
Good work, Penny (in color).

Funny how I thought this was going to be some sort of woven basket from the thumb image - guess it was the straw color. A fine choice for the gallery Penny :-)

Thanks John. I have shocked myself too as, actually, I have been going back and forth back and forth trying to decide if I like this better in color or black and white. So here it is. So be it.

The warping distortion is a nice touch ... plus I am shocked that you submitted a color as one of your two favorite.
