Thanks for your thoughts (and your comment of course).

I prefer this finished product. Effective setup with the lighting casting a soft shadow that gives depth to the plate.

Yeah you are probably right. Wikipedia has a nice short page about high key photography.

I have same problem btw. Try viewing the picture from a slightly different angle (upward and downwards). I have 4 screens (1 desktop and 1 laptop at home and 2 screens at work) all show the picture differently. I gave up to be honest. I will calibrate my desktop screen with the printer I use and thats that. lol.

I think RK wanted to write "hi-key", a technique where many zones of the shot are burned intentionally (too much highlights at the histogram). I`m not sure about this, this image seems to be hi-key in my notebook but not if seen at my desktop. By the way Chris my friend, this looks very very very delicious!!!.

Photogenix, Thank you for your comment but whats a hikey effect?
Jrdu, you are right. Australia is quite far from the rest of the world. Its one of the few things that stop me from moving there. It didn't take munch longer for me to have an empry plate either lol.
Rod and Tom, Even with the grid lines on I still got it wrong. My problem was that I was using the grid lines to align the camera to "lines" in the picture. However not all lines in the picture are exactly parallel and you end up with some odd pictures. With the grid lines off however, I see the whole thing instead of worrying for the grid. On the other hand having the grid on when i was shooting the eiffel tower was just awesome. Good thing you can turn it on and off ;)
Debi, Thanks! That was what i was after. After all, its the inside which makes the fajita not the wrap :)

I like this look, emphasises the colours of the stuffing

Tastey looking fajita. I overcook the peppers every time but this looks good. Rod I'm so glad you mentioned the grid lines. I've been worried it was only me that needs them in my advanced years.

Rod, the fritty thing on the plate is some kind of Mexican food. One of the big drawbacks of Australia and China is that they are too far away from Mexico. This looks very inviting. 15 seconds later, I could show you an empty plate.

Just wait until you get old Christakis you will then have the grid lines turned on:-)

This is great... like the hikey effect.

These are the normal plates we use. I like food photography but I still didn't buy any props. The 7D couldn't turn out any better! Im so glad I went for it! Its so much better than the 450D. I think what I like best is that you can customize the viewfinder. I turned everything off except the active focal point. Its easier to see the big picture that way...

Ah I see why no one was on the settee now, you were only cooking for one I see:-) This works great in a mild high key way but a coloured plate might have shown off the fritty thingy better. Anyhow it's looking very good mate. Hows ya going with the 7D? It's awesome for me.

Oh yeah... That's all it takes. Its a good option for something fast and nice. You gotta remember to take the chicken out of the freezer from before though. That's the weakest link of the chain for me...
