I use to do all the time to avoid people see my unpleasant face (avatar) twice (he he). By the way Al I noticed the C30 gallery has just been set.
 (18/02/2010 @ 14:26:44 EST)
Yeah, I used to do that. Maybe I should be doing it again, hopefully not often :)

Thank you Al!. I don´t like too much bugs and flowers anyway. I prefer people. Changing the subject, a stupid suggestion: when you notice a mistake immediately you have posted a comment, instead posting a new comment explaining the mistake, you can select the text, ctrl+c to copy it, delete the comment, post the new comment pasting the text you have copied, and correct the wrong part before saving the message. In this way you avoid putting two comments. Just a suggestion.

Opps, I meant photographers not photographs.
 (18/02/2010 @ 13:38:19 EST)
That's reminds me of something. Some people are turned off by cliche subjects such as sunsets, flowers, pets...etc. But you will be surprised what good photographs can do with such subjects. Case in point, a thread at FM forum about flowers. Have a look [link]

Ha ha. For Rod's health I hope it's not. He is ok with sunsets, though :)

No problem Al, we can share different opinions!. I tell you that I like this type of PP because remarks the skin texture, but this is a matter of taste. Are you ready for the new topic?. What if it is "pet portrait"?. Do you think Rod like it?. Hehe I´m kidding.
 (18/02/2010 @ 12:59:16 EST)
Honestly Daniel, and because it's a portrait photo, I prefer Debi's version. However, I think your technique would be excellent on non-portrait shots.

Yeah, well...I told you time before about local contrast...did you do some try?. I think the key in PP is to get the shot looks like our eyes saw the image when catched. See my version, I would bet the girl Debie shot looked in this way better than the original version... [link]

Yes please Daniel would love to know. I basically sharpened them and some contrast in LR
 (18/02/2010 @ 12:17:45 EST)
Can you give an example, Daniel. I don't mean an actual photo but more of "you can do this" or "you can do that".

Agree Al, I prefer the top one and it looks very natural. Anyway, I think this image could be improved a bit by PP without loosing its natural look. Nice shot both of them Debie!

back to my roots :)
 (18/02/2010 @ 11:54:15 EST)
I like both, Debi, especially the top one. Do you know why? Because you didn't over-cook or do any funky editing to them. They look very natural. Well done.

Hey guys, I've got a new project on tap which will leave me even less free time than the little bit I already have currently, for photography, let alone keeping up with the chat here and tending to any possible problems. So for the next few challenges, if something urgent comes up, please email me first rather than posting a message here. Not that I won't notice the message just that it could be a few/several days before I do.

Congrats EFG, nice to see someone progress from a learner to a winner! Great shot! Congrats to Penny as well for coming oh-so-close!
Now we're all just waiting for the sound of a mouse-click by EFG to launch the next topic ;)
 (18/02/2010 @ 03:56:50 EST)
Morning fellas! EFG, congrats for your win, it is a wonderful image, looking forward to the next topic! Penny's cacophony also deserves a huge "kudos" as hers and EFGs pic is miles in front of the rest of us ;) Also, a big thanks to all of you for getting involved and keeping the challenge active, you're champs.

Wot about young Eric!! The bugger came in forth & he hasn't been wiv us very long a. Well done Eric & also our Penny was only one vote away from winning coming in second, well done medear. A big well done to Christakis for what turned out to be a very good topic, partly from the way he explained it & the work he put in keeping the posts happening. Sadly his girlfriend Christiana was very neglected for the past two weeks & he will be making up for it now..........Or else:-)
