One would say that taking a picture of something the eye cannot see is impossible. Yet photographers manage to capture feelings, emotions and thoughts.
Sound is exactly the same; It surrounds us, yet we take it for granted and don’t give it much thought. Even now, when you are reading this, you “hear” the words I am writing.
What I would like to see is: Pictures which depict sound (or the lack of it). I want to see the cars revving, the waterfall running, the “happy birthday” song bursting in the room.
Indoors or outdoors this challenge should keep you busy.

Great light in this, Frank, and particularly fitting given the building material. Not sure I'd want to sit in them, though ;-). Well seen and captured.

Hi all! Thanks for your comments! To all who still do not believe: it is real (but no nuclear power). Certainly unique setup by an artist. I have another shot here [link] . If you are still not convinced, please come and visit!

Sorry Franky but still I can't believe that banks with lights there! I'm just amazed. Needless to say, the picture is excellent.

Hey Rod, just an easy explanation for you, mate! The benches are part of a recycling projct for nuclear fuel rods! Now I know where you are coming from, ahem, your name. And I am telling you that you should not sit there for very long time ...
For the rest. The benches really are transparent tubes with neon light inside. This is part of an installation by the artist Stafan Sous. You also find more pictures on his home page http://stefansous.com/ (go to work-> uav uab -> images). Not being humble I must say I have much better picys of this.

Surprising look here kind of like a Dan Flavin sculpture. So what's the story Franky?

Well who would have thought that seats light up a Dougy. These look the same as the lights you get in a solarium, you would end up looking like Zebras if you sat on em a.

Hang on, if these seats light up then that would explain the light around each one a.......................I told you all it wasn't the sun & I thought it was bleeding snow on them:-) Cough, cough...Great picy Franky, I knew it was a goodun as soon as I saw it:-)

Hey, these are unique, Franky - at least to me they are! Looks like the bench seats and backs are constructed from some kind of transparent tubing (I would think durable plastic) with flourescent tubes inside, so they act as both lighting for the area and a place to rest. Wonderful find and very nicely composed. I assume the "sound" part is the buzzing of the flourescent ballasts??
