Thanks Helen. This is the colour of the ' soup ' the fish are swimming around in under the shiny surface.

Wow, looks like an Impressionist painting! I think the color of the water surface at the splash is particularly effective.

Thanks Tommy, I'm happy to hear what you say about noise. I named this pic Splash as I thought everyone would understand it - to my ear it is more of a Splosh or Sp-er-losh. I think Plop sounds too enclosed & without spray, but what do I know.

People complain of noise in my photos too. Frankly I like it. This is an excitedly jittery shot with enough visual chatter to generate it's own "noise", the sound kind. To my ear, the spash is more of a "plop" interrupting all the other clatter.

To be honest Rod I only gave Topaz a brief try as I am happy with my pic. Like you I hadn't noticed the noise & so didn't spend time fiddling about with it. Having said that I reckon TA can be a really useful plug-in.

Great timing - lovely reflections add to the splash!

I was buggered because I couldn't see any noise but I've just found some in the green part of the splash. I'm surprised Topaz Denoise couldn't get rid of it with losing details as keeping the detail was this programs claim to fame. Did you try less of a setting Ron & the slower option of retaining details.

The noise is more obvious at the splash which unfortunately is the main focus of the picture. There's no secret. I just imported your pic in Lightroom 1.3 and used the Color Noise slider to decrease the noise. That's all! Lightroom has two sliders for noise, one for colour noise and one for luminance noise. There should be a few proggys out there which have different sliders for the two types of noise.

Many thanks Jill, Doug & Chris. Chris I must say I hadn't noticed the noise you speak of but now you mention it I can see it - a bit. I would like to know what you did to your version in the db. I've tried a bit of Topaz Denoise but lose too much detail, while you have avoided this. Whats the secret ?

Great idea Ron, The reflections really add to the pic.

Superb job with this Ron. Both the splash and the surrounding reflections are terrific.

I can definitely relate a sound to that and I agree with Rod that the timing was perfect. That's one hole in the water :) It could do with a bit of noise reduction to remove the red/green noise. I uploaded a sample of what I mean. I applied some colour and luminance noise reduction to it.

Thanks Rod.

This looks really nice & a great idea for a sound picy. The timing is perfect as the bits of splash haven't landed back in the water to disturb the peaceful look of the water & reflections which reinforce the impact & sound of the stone hitting the water. Great picy mate.
