Tut tut Penny medear, All you have to do is to move one or two paces to the right & her head would line up perfectly. BUT RK may have hated the viewpoint I'm suggesting,. I only suggested it as we have seen plenty of picys in the past of people looking at art on a wall & I thought something a bit different would have been worth a try. The vertical panels RK has utilised here certainly makes it work as is but.

Right Rod - he could have just gone up to the woman and said "excuse me miss" would you tilt your head a little closer to Marilyn so I could see if it looks better on my camera. These shots are not that easy to grab.

Excellent & original shot. Echoes - clever.

The woman & the vertical stripes makes this work for me, it would also have worked well by aligning the girls head with Marilyns. We would still see the blond hair & a recognition of this famous work & maybe adding a bit of tension. Works great as is though. Well done.

The composition of this is perfect. Love the metaphoric title but total and absolute silence is what comes in mind. The rest has been covered by Tommy. Well done.

Agree with Penny after Tommy's commentary anything else will be superfluous, but had to let you know that I just love this picture. The ladys posture, the colours or the lack of them and the spiral notebook too

Wow, you really got him going.... and just as I was about to tell you how awesome this is - both the image and the story - but that sounds so boring now.

RK I would like to know what is going on in your mind lately as reflected here in this evolution of your seeing. Frankly it is too sophisticated for me to verbally say why but several elements stimulate my normally jaded mind in ways I had almost forgotton: not the least of which is the reference to the Warhol icon and its contrast with the understated modern woman. Next are some compositional effects such as the alignment of the woman's right shoulder with the edge of the Marilyn frame - not to mention the spiral notebook violating that same edge (young naive art student?). Another is the wonderful, almost three dimensional effect generated by the difference in focus of the woman and Marilyn. It conveys a sense of time as visual depth - Marilyn receding in time and our mind. And what ties it all together in a modern minimal statement of flat perspective is the placement and proportions of the white wall and beige framing for Marilyn. Go see the "strip" paintings of Barnett Newman.

Thanks Aam.
Aam, the thing I love about photography is that it presents an almost infinite possibilities even for a simple setup of a lady looking at a picture of a lady. This can be shot/cropped/processed in a million different ways...
I see what you mean about the DOF...

Deleted my previous comment because I realized that I'm not sure which of the two ladies the focus should be on. I'm guessing both of them should be on focus. But that's just a guess.
