Ivan, I am generally not against HDR images. This one is just too over the top for my taste. I reserve Photoshop treatments like this for my mundane pictures. This is too good to hide behind a plug-in. In my opinion, less would be more in this case. The same type effect toned down would work better.

I strongly agree with you that you should leave it alone though. You are the artist and photographer and if this is what you like then so be it.

OK Rod, I like this picture and I like the dirty look HDR gave this industrial scene. I am sorry you do not understand my interpretation of this particular scene, and hence why this PP works in this case. I realize you may not like it, which is your right, but since some others like it so I feel fine about having this picy sitting here. I wonder how much of your attitude is plain anti-HDR religious view. -Ivan

Eric - this is in Seattle, north of downtown near the waterfront. It is very different from the downtown waterfront, which is more touristic. Past the Olympic Sculpture Park, it becomes very industrial and more interesting for photographers :-)

Did the ahrtiiiiist feel a bit scorned then. We always comment on picys whether we vote for them or not. What weak excuses about the weather, if you enjoy doing this type of thing then just do it but tell us the weather dictated this silly treatment.

Yeah, extreme HDR. Normally too much, but with this shot it works quite well. Love the perspective and the silo on the right!

Well, I must say that this really appeals to me. I like everything about it. I'm a railroader and I take photos of trains, yards, engines and such everyday, but I love this PP that you've done. Where is this by the way? Dallas, by chance? .....Great.

I must admit this one is quite polarizing. Normally I don't so such HDRs but I thought I would have a little fun with this one. First, the day was quite grey and the light pretty boring (it's winter in the northern hemisphere, and Seattle is a rainy place remember) so needed something to give this a bit of pop. Second, I like how HDR here does to this scene: it makes the silo more dirty, the trains more rusty...as Christakis says, I believe it works in its own way here. If you don't like it, don't vote for it. -Ivan

Unlike the last one, this is over the top in my opinion. On a positive note though, Pixar Animations would be proud. I would like to see this more traditional because the appeal is there.

Of course this works great.............as a graphic for a video game:-) Wot a waste of a good picy a.

Although I am not a big fan of HDR effects like these I must admit this works in its own way.

Yes, HDR indeed. I like to have fun with HDR and experiment with it these days, and try to find the settings that fit best one particular scene, whether it's more natural (and you can barely see it's HDR), or a little more visible like this one. -Ivan

dramatic! HDR, right?

I like this, it looks so good with the processing that you have done. Another great capture.
