We are all very familiar with the classic "Rule of Thirds" which dates back to the Renaissance or even earlier as a compositional esthetic. But modern art looks for something different, an esthetic that reaches to the edges of the frame and even over the edge. For this topic, your subject should be touching or intersected by at least one edge and is otherwise complete within the frame. That is to say, shooting a bridge or fence that simply crossed the frame and intersects both opposite edges is not what we are looking for. A flower on one edge that does not cross the entire frame is more like it. Good shooting and keep it edgy.
